It's also not too encouraging to see the children's section with very few toys (from what I could tell, admittedly didn't pay extremely close attention) and no books in the vicinity. Just computer games and little else aren't good for a child's development. The old library had countless children's books and non-electronic activities in the dedicated children's section, and it doesn't look like many of them were brought over. Not that that part affects me, but just an observation.
The library is great! I just wish the staff was friendlier. Some of the staff can be very rude, other than that I love the library. They provide movies on the roof on some nights, have a really good coffee shop, and have a wide variety selection. Have lots of great updated computers!
I'm still going to come back periodically to attempt to study again before I jump to conclusions about this library's potential as a good research/ study site, but I was not all too impressed upon my first visit.
Not as breathtaking as expected for something that was hyped up so much at the beginning, and it definitely looks much bigger from the outside (which I do like the contemporary design and landscaping). I came to try to get some homework and studying done, but that was not an easy thing to do without my earbuds due to the children being so loud as they mindlessly played on the computers together. I thought it was much better in the previous library how the kids section was off in the corner and a bit more separate from everything else, which meant everywhere else in the library was extremely QUIET. The coffee shop also made things a bit noisy.
This library is the worst place to come I wouldn't consider it a library there is not one quit place within the library! It's more of a free baby sitter! Don't come here if you wanna get anything done! I'm pretty sure a library is supposed to be quiet....
My family and I moved to Vinton not long ago, and this brand-new library has been a huge blessing. The staff have always been friendly and helpful to me; it has a rich variety of print and CD books to enjoy; and the cafe provides delicious snacks and drinks. Recently my wife and I enjoyed watching the movie "The Shack" which the library showed for free on their rooftop patio--the inspirational movie, beautiful night, and mountain views all combined to create a memorable experience. The Vinton library is great!
My wife uses this branch. She always comes home talking about the helpful staff. She loves to read and when she has read all the books of a favorite author they suggest someone else that writes books that are also pleasing to her. This library is new, clean and we'll stocked. If they don't have a title she is looking for, they will find it! We are thankful that we have such a great library in our area.
